It is snowy, nasty and cold here. It is a perfect day for inside activities. We thought we would do this glow activity, that kids can play in the dark anywhere, anytime of the day with this portable glow art studio from Techno Source. With the Glow Crazy light pen they can draw, write and play games on the dome’s special inner glow wall. Kids can also put on light shows for their friends and family, use stencils to create cool glow scenes, and make fun silhouettes using their hands, toys, or even their friends. Kids can let their glow creations fade or “glow over” them to clear their canvas and start again. Includes light pen, 4 stencil sheets and everything needed to assemble the glow dome in a handy carrying case. Requires 2 AAA batteries (not included). Ages 3+.

My boys have been driving me insanely crazy to try this out. I kept telling them know, because I wanted to have something for them to do in case of a snow day. So today is the second day they have been home, and we decided to see how this dome works. So I grabbed the box and opened it up. It contained:
The Doodle Dome
1 Light Wand
1 Carrying Case
4 Stencils
1 Booklet with fun tips.

I went and searched for batteries, then tried to unscrew the light pen so I could put the batteries in. I couldn't figure out how to open the pen, so then I decided to read the directions!!! There is a little phillips head screw at the end that you have to unscrew and then the pen unscrews apart. Now, I wish I had done this battery stuff before I mentioned the dome, because the boys were growing very impatient while I tried to remember where I had put the batteries and while I was putting them in!!!

After I finished what would have been an easy task for most, I went to unfold the black dome. It was super easy, it just popped out and into place. By the way, you can tell by the picture above that it folds down pretty flat and small for storage.

So now the pen is ready, and the dome is up, and two out of three children are arguing over who will go first. I let both of them in there. Both the eight year old and four year old fit fine together, but after they both got a turn they decided it was better if just one went in at a time. Inside the dome is one white wall. This wall is where the kids can draw on. My four year old was just drawing, but my older son decided to use the stencils. I wanted to take pics of the inside, but my camera just took black pictures because it really is dark in there. I can assure you that we are using this product in the daylight. In fact this snow day is feeling like it is going to stay light forever!

I noticed that my older son had somehow gotten rid of his brother's glowing images. I asked him how he did it, and he said that he just shined the light on them for a bit, and they disappeared.

So as I am writing this I can hear them in the hallway with the Doodle Dome. So far so good. They love drawing anyways, and this is perfect because they are not going through a lot of paper and they get the bonus of their drawings being lit up. I did hear them mention they were going to put the dome on top of their bed, so I had to go stop that. Boys! I tell you!
