Maukilo is a line of toys and games created by a woman living in the United States with German heritage. She was interested in buying toys to send to a friend in Germany, and couldn't find anything here that were like toys in Germany. So she decided to create her own line. Maukilo has puzzles, games, books, vehicles, and ride on toys.
My little boys and I tried out a game called Ben Bear Helps His Friends. It is a matching game.
"There is chaos on the farm. The animal kids happily play hide and seek. But oh dear! In all this brouha-ha the kids no longer know where to find their moms and dads. Fortunately there is always Ben Bear! Helped by good memory skills the children assist Ben to find the right parents. Who is the best at remembering? A memory game with animals. 2 - 4 players. Ages 3 - 8 years." The children playing the game get to see tiles of baby animals. In the center there are red and blue tiles that represent the mothers and fathers of the animals. There is a wooden bear, Ben. There are three wooden flowers to collect if they get a match. A die is rolled and whatever baby animal that Ben lands on, the child then has to flip over one red and one blue tile to find the baby's parents. If they get the match, they collect one wooden flower, if not they don't get a flower. Either way the pair gets turned over and remains in the game. The game is over when one player collects three flowers.
My seven year and five year old enjoyed this game. My three year old is a little young for it and is sitting at my kitchen table right now, just trying to make matches, which is still a good learning skill, even thought he is not playing properly. What I like about the game the most, is that it has such high quality wooden pieces. The bear and the flowers are wooden, and the circle tiles are made of pretty thick cardboard which makes them super sturdy. I really am impressed with this Maukilo game.
Thank you to Maukilo for my sample used in this review. My opinions are my own and honest.
