Artifact Puzzles Review

Based in Seattle, Artifact Puzzles is an artisinal puzzle company, specializing in exquisite wooden jigsaw puzzles.
They select compelling art that puts you in touch with past, present, and imagined civilizations.
Their puzzle artists design unique puzzle pieces for each image that add charm and challenge to the puzzle experience.
They laser-cut their puzzles just south of Seattle, using environmentally friendly plywood and archival soy-based inks.

My children love to do puzzles.  I must say that I have never seen puzzles as nice as these.  Since they are actually made of wood, they are very thick and sturdy.  This is a plus for my boys since their little brother tends to bend their puzzle pieces!!  Each piece is actually 1/4" thick.  The puzzles from this company are so pretty.  You can actually put together puzzles that are from actual pieces of art.  For example,  if you love Van Gogh, you can put together his "De Sterrennacht" painting in a puzzle!

However, you don't have to be knowledgeable about art to appreciate these beautiful puzzles. I just browsed by puzzle piece and found some really pretty ones, such as Kessel Shells Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle.

As I said, my boys love to put together puzzles, so I was excited to show them what we were going to put together.  We worked on The Kraken.

This puzzle has 217 pieces.  It is a  sea monster. This puzzle is very very hard despite having only 217 pieces, because the edge is irregular (no straight edge pieces), and the pieces are pretty crazy. This puzzle was designed by Tara Flannery, and includes many sea-bird whimsy pieces.

When we opened up the box we saw that the puzzle itself came in a very nice box and was lined with tissue paper.  The pieces were just awesome.  The boys called them curly.  My boys are 8.6.and 4, so they were not able to work this alone.  My eight year old is a puzzle genius and was able to do quite a bit without me.  I actually think he is better that puzzles than I am!!!

Thank you to Artifact Puzzles for my sample used in this review.  My opinions are my own and honest.
