We live in a small town and my children know the fireman of the town.  However, when they are in all their gear, they wouldn't recognize them.  In October, there is fire safety month to show kids the firetrucks, the gear, and to help the kids to not be afraid of fireman.  This is just once a year.  I am glad that there is a good cartoon that my little one can watch and know that the fireman are good people and are helping out.  When we watch this, I also point out many of the tips from fire safety month just so my boys get to hear it more than once a year.  I figure casually mentioning it during the show, will stick with them more than me trying to explain it.
