Wax Vac Review

Do you use the dreaded cotton swab to clean your ears?  We all know that we shouldn't, but most of us end up trying to use it anyways.  While I know that some ear wax is acceptable and should be left alone, I also know that some people with excessive ear wax know they need to degunk part of their ears!!!  This is the case with my husband and my six your old son.  I have been with my husband for over 12 years, and he has been using cotton swabs this whole time, even though I tell him not to jam it in there!!  However, if he didn't do something, I would have to complain about that too!  About two months ago, I had to take my six year old to the doctor because he had a huge hard wax ball in his ear.  It was blocking the whole part of his ear.  I can't believe he could hear anything out of it.  It took them about an hour and a half to gently remove it.  It was so hard that the physician's assistant and the doctor had to look at it and check if he had shoved something in his ear.  They determined it to be a hard ball of wax indeed.

I thought the WaxVac would be something to try for my husband and little guy.  It comes put together already, and you just need to get some batteries and put them in to get it up and running.  It does come with eight disposable tips to put on the end of the Wax Vac.  I tried it out first, and not to brag, but I don't have waxy ears, so there wasn't much on the filter.  (About that filter, dissembling the WaxVac is simple as well.  I just twisted the end counterclockwise and then I saw a filter which I used the little brush to clean off.  Then you can rinse off the plastic piece that I just told you about.)  WaxVac suggests using mineral oil ear drops not included) to help soften up the ear wax for easier removal.

I warmed up the ear wax drops and had my son leave them in for about ten minutes.  I used the WaxVac for about 60 seconds.  I took the unit apart and looked at the filter.  I got some out of his ear, and he even took a turn using it. I can't wait for my husband to try it!
