Having a Blast at Lego Kidsfest!

My three boys, a friend and her son, and I went to Lego KidsFest Friday evening.  The Friday evening session was from 4-8:30.  My boys didn't get out of school until 3 and we had an hour drive so we didn't get there and get parked and in the building until around 4:30 or so.  That left us about 4 hours to have some fun.  I actually didn't think we would stay there until it closed, but I was wrong, we could have stayed longer!

The first thing that we did and the most important too, was head over to The Lost Parents Booth.  In that booth they handed you a card.  You wrote your name and phone number on the back and then your child put it in their pocket.

This way if your child gets separated from you, they just hand a staff member the card and they can call for you.  I thought this was an excellent idea considering I had three very excited boys and just one nervous me.  I felt a lot better knowing that if one of them wandered off that someone would call me.

The first area that we came too had five sections.  The model museum had giant figures completely made of statues.  For example, superman, batman, woody and buzz, animals and more.  Our favorites were:

Superheroes

Groot and Rocket
Ninja Turtles

In this same area they had a section to build Legos in only purple.  We skipped that section to head over to the Mixels building.  My boys had a blast building the mixels and they even got to put them in in a display case for everyone to look at.

There was also a little section where the kids could watch a little movie and another section where you could buy a few items and the kids could kick back on some beanbags and read some Lego stories.

We passed through the concession stand that we would later return too!  We headed into the next section.  We took a quick glance at The Magic House's exhibit, which was science experiments.  She showed the boys a few tricks and then they immediately ran over to the big brick pile.
This pile had about fifty kids in it.  Yes, it was huge.   (we later found a Duplo big brick pile that my friend's 2 year old spent most of his time in)  I had to practically drag my boys out of the pile after about a half an hour.

We moved on to the art gallery, which was one of my favorite things.  The kids got a Lego square to put pieces in to create their own works of art.  The wall had some great ones on it, including my favorites:  the minion and the St. Louis cardinals symbol.

My oldest made a smiley face and the two little ones made things from mine craft.

The boys stopped at the next section, the race ramps.  Here the kids got to build Lego cars and push them down the race track.

I started to take less pictures as we went on because I was getting tired!!  So next stop was Creation Nation.  Each kid got to build something and place it in the arena. It was like building their own little city.  I saw quite a few buildings that were cool.  There was some really great pyramids, some houses, and my favorite, the Hollywood sign made out of blue and white Legos.  Each kid got to take home a small bag of Legos for completing a project for Creation Nation.

We skipped over the marketplace.  I know my kids would have loved to buy some more Lego sets, but I didn't want them to miss out on any of the activities.  We also skipped over the Brick Battle Zone.  The line wasn't too bad but they wanted to move on.  It was a cool exhibit though.  The kids sat in a long line and were building a Lego bridge.

After these areas, the rest of the areas were themed.  We skipped by the girly Disney Legos and Friends, so I am not sure what was going on there, lol.  They had two photo booths that you could get your photo taken and they gave you the picture right there.  They had a princess theme for the girls and Spiderman for the boys.  There was a Bionicle and Star Wars building area.  The Lego Movie Experience section was fun.  They had fighter jets made out of Legos.  My boys got to shoot little missiles at cut outs of the bad guys from The Lego Movie.    My kids favorite thing, and the one thing that I let them return to was the Ninjago section.  They got to build Lego men and fight them .

There was two bounce houses and an all lime building area that we skipped to go to The Challenge Zone.  The kids had three minutes to build something that they might see in a park.  We built a water slide, a boat, and a bench.  They boys each got to take home a Chima 40 piece bag set.

All in all, there was only a few sections that we skipped.  I wanted the boys to enjoy their time and not be too rushed.  I was impressed at how organized everything was, and the staff were very nice and helpful. Even thought it was extremely busy, we did not have to wait in line for much.   We all had a blast and decided that we wanted to go again next year.

Thank you to U.S. Family Guide for my tickets that were used to facilitate this post.  I was not compensated in any other way.  My opinions are my own and honest.
